Complementary training
The academic committee of the Doctoral Program, in agreement with the tutor or the director, studying the curriculum of the doctoral student, will decide whether it is appropriate for him/her to take complementary training, as contemplated in the RD 99/2011. Where appropriate, the list of subjects to be taken from the postgraduate academic offer of the University of Valladolid will be defined, considering the specific training required by the doctoral student for the proper development of his doctoral thesis.
In this sense, there are currently Master's Degrees related to the proposed program:
- Master's Degree in Process and Systems Engineering Research,
- Master's Degree in Environmental Management and Technology
- Master's Degree in Research in Fluid Thermodynamic Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering (currently in process).
These Masters constitute a source of complementary training that is available if required by the doctoral student. As training complements, a maximum of 15 ECTS may be contemplated, and the subjects that are proposed depending on the student's admission profile and his/her doctoral thesis work are:
- Research work approved in an extraordinary session by the academic committee of the Doctoral Program, directed by a professor of the Doctoral Program who is also a professor of the corresponding Master, and which would correspond academically to the Master's Thesis of any of the related Masters listed (No. ECTS < 12).
- Research Initiation subject of the Master's Degree in Fluid Thermodynamic Engineering Research (Nº ECTS = 12).
- Some other subject of these Masters specified for each student by the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program.
The Academic Committee of the Program will determine which of the above three options each candidate must take individually, and will inform the applicant at the time of publication of the provisional list of those admitted.
Admission may be conditioned to the completion of specific training complements.
The completion of these complements will be previous or simultaneous to the enrollment in academic supervision in the program. In the case of simultaneous completion, students must register for these complements at the time of registration for academic supervision in the program, and they must be passed within a maximum period of three consecutive four-month periods. Failure to do so will result in the student's withdrawal from the program. In the case of prior enrollment, only these complements will be enrolled and the supervision commitment will not be signed and the Doctoral Student Activities Document will not be opened until they have been passed, and will not be counted for the purposes of the time limit established for the completion of the thesis.
Updated information on training complements
The Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering was processed and has been offered since the 2013/14 academic year.
